Epic CareEverywhere provides an implementation of the ITI Framework, a standard published by IHE International. This framework is designed to improve and standardize the way computer systems in healthcare share information. Healthy Roster’s integration with CareEverywhere focuses on one specific portion of the framework: Transaction ITI-41 (Provide and Register Document Set-b). We leverage ITI-41 to transmit C-CDA formatted documents containing patient information from Healthy Roster to your Epic environment.

Important Considerations

Here are some important considerations when exploring the viability of a CareEverywhere integration with your Healthy Roster account.

First, our integration currently only supports unidirectional (one way) transmission of data from Healthy Roster to your Epic environment. Bidirectional data transmission is not currently supported.

Second, provider users with access to your account will have the ability to select and customize information (i.e. specific injuries, treatments) for a patient and submit that information to Epic via this integration. The initiation of this data transmission is a manual, user-initiated process. Automatic data synchronization is not currently supported.

Third, management and processing of C-CDA documents within your Epic environment will be the responsibility of your technical staff. As Epic provides a robust platform with significant customization options, we strongly recommend consulting with your Epic technical specialist as well as your Epic support team during planning stages.

Configuration

To support this integration, customers will be required to configure their Epic CareEverywhere environment to accept requests made from Healthy Roster.

Your configuration should require the following:

  1. Healthy Roster’s OID, issued from HL7.
  2. Healthy Roster’s public certificate used when making requests.

Please reach out to Healthy Roster technical support to obtain this information when you are ready to begin implementation.

For Healthy Roster to complete configuration for your account, we will require the following information:

  1. The appropriate CareEverywhere Root URL for your environment where requests should be sent a.
    1. This should look something like:
      1. i.https://your-domain.com/Interconnect-CareEverywhere-TST/ b.
    2. The full call for the specific ITI-41 endpoint should look something like:
      1. https://your-domain.com/Interconnect-CareEverywhere-TST/wcf/epic.community.hie/provideandregister.svc/mtom
NOTE: Healthy Roster will provide a sandbox/test environment for development and testing purposes. For details regarding the setup and configuration of this test environment, please contact Healthy Roster technical support.
